Mr. R. P. Gibbons was a Wellington visitor to yesterday's luncheon of the tyanganui Rotary Club.

Mr. F. W. Dawson, general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, is retiring as from April 30, 1939.

Rotarian H. B. Gibbons, of Wellington, was a visitor at yesterday's luncheon of the Wanganui .Rotary Club.

Chaplain Fraser has been appointed as an assistant or associate to Mr. W. H. Cannan, returning officer for the Maori polling booth at Takirau, inland Waitotara.

Mr. Hope Gibbons, who has been on a six months’ tour abroad, has returned to Wanganui. Mr. Hope Gibbons was extended a cordial welcome at yesterday’s luncheon of the Wanganui Rotary Club.

Mr. T. W. Lightfoot, of the New Zealand Railways Traffic Department, who was recently transferred from Upper Hutt to Wanganui as a relieving officer, is supervising the annual promotion examinations of the cadets and junior clerks.

Mr. E. P. V. Sealy, manager of the Wanganui branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, is to retire at the end of December. He will be succeeded by Mr. J. L. Barriball, manager of the bank’s Pukekohe branch. »

A meeting yesterday of directors of the National Insurance Company of N.Z., Ltd. appointed the head office inspector, Mr. Cyril William Birch, to the position of general manager of the company, states a Press Association message from Dunedin.

Mr. L. H. James, Government analyst at Dunedin, attached to the New Zealand Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, expects to spend in England two months of six months’ leave of absence which he has been granted. He will study the latest developments in analytical and general chemical practice, with special reference to certain problems which particularly interest the New Zealand Government. Mr. James’ tour includes the United States and Canada.
