MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS OPENED

CEREMONY AT TE AROHA. LARGE PUBLIC GATHERING. [ Per Press Association.J TE AROHA, Aug. 28. New municipal buildings in ferro concrete, 72£t. by 72ft., consisting of Council Chambers and offices and the General Library, erected and furnished at a cost of £6OOO, were officially opened by the Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, M.P., in the presence of a large assembly of the public. The Mayor was presented by Mr. G. W. Barclay, the builder, with a gold key ot the front door. The Mayor- recounted the steps taken that had led to the securing of the handsome and commodious building, under an arrangement with the Government, for one shilling per annum, and the present offices were the first built by the council in its history of 50 years. Former councillors, Hon. G. Coulter, M.L.C., Mrs. Ada Gordon. Mr. D. McMahon, the mayors of Paeroa, Morrinsville, and Matamata, the chairman of the County Council, and the chairman of the Drainage Board congratulated Te Aroha on its fine modern building, which marked Te Aroha's progress.
