CRASH INTO POLE

TRICK DRIVER INJURED [ Per Tress Assoc’ation.] AUCKLAND, Aug. 28. Concussion, abrasions, an injury to the back and a possible fracture of the ribs were suffered by a bushman, John Edward Turnwald, aged 44fi married, of Waitakere, when the truck he was driving crashed into a telegraph pole on Saturday afternoon. The driver was thrown on to the side of the road about 30ft. from the truck. The accident occurred outside the mental hospital on the Great North Road. Turnwald was driving alone at the time and it is thought that the truck skidded on the wet concre’.e and struck the pole. A taxi driver arrived on the scene and found Turnwald lying unconscious with his head on the kerbing.
