Wanganui, and daughter, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. Salt. Mr. and Mrs. B. Voss, Auckland, i who have been visiting Mrs. T. P. i Wright, have now returned home. Mr. J. Dawkins, Wanganui, was a 1 visitor to Mangaweka this week. BISHOP’S VISIT The Bishop of Wellington will be visiting Mangaweka next Thursday, and will address a meeting in the Max Theatre for funds for the erection of the cathedral to mark New Zealand’s centenary. VALEDICTORY A large number of parents, pupils and members of the school committee met in the schoolroom last Friday to bid farewell to a most popular teacher, Miss MacFarlane, who is leaving the district to take up an appointment at the Longburn School. Prior to afternoon tea the pupils presented Miss MacFarlane with a large oval mirror, from the school committee. a Sterling silver pencil, ana from the staff, a crystal vase. Mr. Mahoney spoke on behalf of the committee, and voiced the parents’ loss in losing Miss MacFarlane. Mr. A. Lewis (headmaster), and Miss Howard i (assistant) also said how sorry 7 they were to lose such a happy fellow i worker and wished Miss MacFarlane ’ every success in her new school. Miss MacFarlane feelingly responded.
