RESTRICTION DECISION AUSTRALIAN MINERS. SYDNEY, Aug. 11. The coalminers' convention is still debating the log claims which it intends to put forward to the various Governments and colliery proprietors. The latest decision reached by the convention to-day was to order the restriction of output of coal from all mines and so prevent the accumulation of stocks by gas companies, railways, and other large official and private undertakings which are anticipating a protracted strike. NO FEDERAL INTERVENTION IN DISPUTE. Received Aug. 12, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 12. The Prime Minister, who arrived at Sydney yesterday after a tour ol Queensland, said that the Federal Government would not intervene 'in the coal dispute. He declared that it was a matter for the New South Wales Government. ULTIMATUM TO BE SERVED. Received Aug. 12, 8.10 p.m. SYDNEY. Aug. 12. The convention of the Miners’ Federation endorsed the Central Council’s recommendation that the Federal Government and the State Government and the colliery proprietors should be served with an ultimatum giving them 14 days in which to reply to the miners’ claims. The ultimatum will probably be issued next week. The Greater Newcastle Council will ask both the Commonwealth Government and the State Government to intervene in the mining dispute and to consider the whole question of the rehabilitation of the coal industry. OFFER OF TRIBUNAL CONFERENCE WITH PREMIER Received Aug. 13, 1 a.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 12. The coalminers’ delegates to-day had a conference with the Premier on the composition and scope of the special tribunal offered to the miners for an investigation of their grievances. The miners' convention will hear a report on the subject on Monday.
