RANGITIKEI LADIES’ GOLF CLUB The finals of the three sections of the club championships will be played to-day, Mrs. G. H. Clark and Miss McKenzie meeting in the senior grade, Mrs. McDonald and Miss Kil-■gour-Carter in the junior, and Mrs. Last-Harris and Miss Guy in the C grade. The semi-finals were played on Wednesday in fine, but windy weather, with the following results: Seniors.—Mrs. Clark defeated Mrs. Hendry; Miss McKenzie won from Mrs. Dean by default. Juniors. —Mrs. McDonell defeated Mrs. Scott; Miss Kilgour-Carter defeated Mrs. Laurence. C Grade. —Mrs. Last-Harris defeated Mrs. Sadler; Miss Guy defeated Mrs. Carter, GENERAL NEWS A survey of the damage done by Tuesday’s storm shows that Rangitikei escaped lightly, though in exposed positions many fences were levelled and old trees bit the dust. Motorists travelling on the Parewanui at dusk had a narrow escape, a big tree falling right across the highway, in between passing vehicles. Power and light interruptions were inevitable, but the board’s men soon attended to broken lines, and the service was restored without much inconvenience, all things considered.
