PARTIAL ISOLATION

STANMORE BAY RESIDENTS [ Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 3. Measles and the recent heavy rains have combined to isolate several families living at Stanmore Bay, Whangapararoa Peninsula. In last week's storm the footbridge at Stanmore Bay was washed away and since then repairs have been delayed through the county foreman in the district contracting measles. The bridge led across a tidal stream which flows into Hauraki Gulf and was the only means by which settlers at Stanmore Bay could reach their homes dry-footed. Now they can only reach the main Whangapararoa Settlement by boat. If the tide is in at low tide, however, it is possible to wade across the stream and by this means children of settlers have been able to attend school.
