COLIN HORSLEY FAREWELL RECITAL

TO-MORROW NIGHT I For some months past a committee has been engaged in an endeavour to raise sufficient funds to enable Colin Horsley to complete his musical education abroad. Thanks to the geneiosity of well-wishers, and to the hard work of Colin himself (he has given recitals in Auckland, Hastings, Marton, New Plymouth. Palmerston North and Wanganui, and has broadcast from Auckland and Wellington) a fund has been raised that will, at least, ensure that he is able to make a start at the Royai College of Music, London. A scholarship won at this college ensures tuition for two years, but it is essential that he should be free of financial anxieties until he is able to take his place on the recital platform. Before that takes place, it is desirable that he should have some time on the Continent, and further funds will help the plans of the committee to be carried out in full. The Wanganui public will have an opportunity to-morrow night to further this worthy object, when the farewell recital is to be given in the Opera House: at the same time they will be enabled to join in giving this gifted boy a suitable farewell. The box plan is at Gilbert’s music warehouse and is now almost filled. It is pleasing to know that there will be a crowded house to-morrow night, and that Wanganui will give Colin a memorable farewell.
