KNOCKED DOWN BY VAN

Vi ELL-KNOWN WELLINGTON WOMAN MRS ELEANOR RIDDIFORD DEAD [ Per Press A tsociatisn. ) WELLINGTON, June 14. Fatal head injuries were received by Mrs Eleanor Caroline Riddiford, widow of Edward Joshua Riddiford, when she was knocked down by a van while crossing the road to her home at Lower Hutt at about 5.40 this evening. Mrs Riddiford was unconscious when picked up and died at her home two hours later without regaining consciousness. Mrs Riddiford, who was a daughter of an early Wellington pioneer, the late Mr Henry Bunny, former Deputy-Superintendent of the Wellington Province, was born in 1861 She married in 1879 and with the exception of a few years in England lived all her life at Lower Hutt. Mrs Riddiford was well known for ne; acts of charity. During the war she did great service at W r alton-on-Thames. London. Mrs Riddiford is survived by a brother, Mr E. P. Bunny, of Lower Hutt and an adult, family of five—Mrs Lindsay (Scotland), Mr Daniel PJddiford (Featherston), Mr Eric Ridd.*ford (Orongo Orongo), Mrs Liddiard (England), and Mrs Dudley Kettle (Napier). Two sons, Mr Vivian Riddiford and Mr Lionel Riddiford predeceased her.
