PATEA ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING ON THE PUTIKI RANGE The Patea Rifle Association held its annual shoot on the Putiki range yesterday under ideal shooting conditions. Mr. C. R. Honeyfield, president of the association, was range officer and Messrs. Walter White and M. Hughes acted as statistical officers. In the Wanganui match on the 300yard range, H. C. Percy (Alfredton) headed the prizewinners with 50. The successful Wanganui competitors were A. Doidge, 49, £3; F. P. Dickinson (Mangaweka), 49, £2; M. Gardner (Mangaweka). 48. £1; R. L. White (Rangitikei), 48, £1; J. Christian, 48, £1; A. Humphrey, 48, 10s. Successful Wanganui tyros were D. Howard, 48, 15s; W. Jones, 46, 10s; L. Cullimore, 46s ss; L. Cronin (Raetihi), 45, ss; W. Howard, 45, ss. Six riflemen shared the honours in the Taranaki match on the 500-yard range, these including D. Howard, J. Ford and A. Doidge, of Wanganui. In the C grade aggregate, district scores were W. Rankin (Marton), 138, £2; C. Hilliar (Patea), 136, £1; L. Cullimore, 133, ss. The service shoot was won by A. Doidge (Wanganui) with a score of 99, D. Howard (Wanganui) filling third place with a score of 98. Other scores were J. Ford, 97, 10s; F. P. Gardiner, 97, 10s; R. L. White, 97, 10s; W. A. Stevenson (Rangitikei), 96, 4s 2d; R. B. McKenzie, 96, 4s 2d. The teams’ match was won by Rangitikei with an aggregate of 710, Wanganui being second with a score of 705. Twelve teams competed.
