GOLF. On Tuesday, May 31, the ladies arc holding a flag match and players are asked to chose their own partners. CARNIVAL DANCE. The Carnival Dance held in the Waverley Town Hall on Wednesday evening proved a very successful function. There was an excellent attendance of both young and old folk who enjoyed dancing to the bright strains of the music supplied by the Waverley Orchestra until a late hour. The committee are indebted to Mr. V. C. Townsend, of Wanganui, who kindly gave the services of his public speaking system which were used to great advantage both for the music and the speeches. During the evening Mr. F. Sheppard, chairman of the organising committee, introduced the Queen Candidates, who were on the stage, together with their respective chairmen. He explained the object of the Queen Carnival and thanked the public for their support to date and hoped their interest would be maintained unlil the close of the carnival at the end of June and the swimming baths, which will be a great benefit to the town and district, opened next season. The Queens were introduced in the order the votes placed them on Wednesday evening, Miss A. Morrison, Sports Queen; Miss M. Walker, .Country Queen; MisS J. Southcombe, Town Queen. PERSONAL. Messrs. A. L. Elmslie, T. Davis and Gregor McGregor, who were delegates from the Waverley branch of the Farmers’ Union to the conference just concluded in Wellington, have returned home.
