WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, May 26, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure has continued to fall in the New Zealand area, particularly to the south and south-east, but an anticyclone still covers the Tasman. Forecast. —Winds: North-westerly at first on the east coast, from Marlborough northwards, otherwise, moderate to strong south-wester-lies to southerlies prevailing and reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and in Foveaux Strait; otherwise slight to moderate, but rising south of Castlepoint. Eastern Tasman: Moderate southwest to southerly winds; seas, slight to moderate. Weather: Mainly cloudy to overcast and with rain at times in most districts, but more especially in the South Island and western districts of the North. Temperatures becoming cooler. Time of sunset to-day, 4.34 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 7.03 a.m. Phases of the Moon for May.—First Quarter, May 7; Full Moon, May 14; Last Quarter, May 23; New Moon May 30.
