WAVERLEY

KITCHEN AFTERNOON Last week Mrs. W. Cunningham and Mrs. R. Bates were joint hostesses at a “kitchen” afternoon for Miss Melva Christensen. Mrs. Cunningham chose a frock of petrol green tonings and Mrs. Bates a navy ensemble. The guest of honour wore a frock of navy and white fleck tweed. The room was gaily decorated with flowers of autumn tints, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent in and singing. A delectable afternoon tea was served and Mrs. Cunningham, in wishing the guest of honour the best of luck and happiness, asked her to open the array of parcels. These proved to be useful and pretty gifts for the kitchen, the shades of green being very predominant. Miss Christensen suitably replied, thanking the hostesses for a most enjoyable afternoon, and all present for the beautiful gifts. Those present were:—Mrs. C. Christensen, Misses J. B. and O. Christensen, Miss L, Christensen, Mrs. Fitzgibbon, Mrs. A. Cunningham, senior, Miss M. Cunningham, Mrs. Edwards, Miss Edwards, Mrs, Hunter, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. McMurray, senior, Mrs. S. McMurray, Mrs. Dallison, Miss R. Dallison, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. J. Brown, Miss H. Russell, Mrs. J. Bourke, Miss E. Bourke, Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Lampitt. Mrs. Jeffries, Mrs. D. Walker.
