During thp last two days a vci” active group of sunspots has made aii appearance, the eruption being unusually sudden. The group has the prodigious length of 100,000 miles. Il is at present just off the sun's ecu tral meridian, and it is possible that during the next night or two there may be a repetition of magnetic disturbances, and possibly an auroiai display. \ In addition to the huge group cf spots there are others, the whole solar disk being very active. The centres of the two main ? spots are separating at about 18 miles a sec - ond, it was calculated at the Dominion Observatory to-day.
