Water flowed over Niagara toward the middle of last month, af te r the greatest ice jam in the history of the gorge. The ice, which threatened power plants along the lower river in the winter period, broke up and passed into Lake Ontario in huge flocs. Nearer the falls the jam which destroyed the famous View Bridge in January had dwindled to near water level. This picture, taken on April 12, shows what was left of the famous bridge, with the ice breaking.
