WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, May 24, 3 p.m. General Situation.—A very slight disturbance is approaching across the Tasman but pressure is generally very high over southeastern Australia and thence eastward to beyond New Zealand. Forecast.—Winds: North-west to westerly but a change to southwesterlies or southerlies advancing soon from the south, force mainly light to moderate but freshening later in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight to moderate but rising somewhat in the far south and later south of Castlepoint. Eastern Tasman Sea. Light to moderate north-east to south-east winds prevailing in the northern portion and west to south-west elsewhere; seas slight to moderate. Weather: For the most part fair but with occasional scattered and mainly light rain, chiefly over the South Island and southern portions of the North. Temperatures becoming rather cooler tO ’ m Time W of sunset to-day, 4.35 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 7.01 “ Phases or the Moon for May.-First Quarter May 7; Full Moon, May 14; Last Quarter, May 23; New Moon May 30.
