< OI RSE IMPROtHMENTS With extensive alterations to th* course, the inside grass I racks, lawn, and buildings, the To Awaniutu course is under complete reconstruction, to make it one of the picturesque in the Dominion. The hill behind the stands hits been cut down anrl terraced. The grandstand, stewards’ stand, and totalisator house have been moved back and the course Ikes been ploughed and is being prcpaicd for grassing. The Matamata appointments ar*: also to be improved. Ten new looseboxes arc to be erected, which will bring the accommodation for horse., up to 24 loose-boxes, 50 stalls, and 10 horse yards. A loading bank, t«» facilitate the loading and unloading of horses travelling by float, is to b • constructed and additions are to b-‘ made to the jockey’s room. It is proposed to put down a permanent steeplechase course, approximately a mile and a-quarter in circumference, and having six permanent obstacle.-, consisiting of a post and rails, a sod wall, and brush fences.
