OHINGAITI

DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. FORTNIGHTLY SHOOT. The fortnightly shoot of the OMngaiti Defence Rifle Club was held on the local range last Saturday. A very poor attendance was present for the second shoot for the “Johnstone” Cup. Conditions were good, but. the “high, bright, light” was not acceptable to a few of the riflemen. The following are the scores registered by the marksmen:—

The third shoot for the Johnstone Cup will be held on Saturday 28th. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ REUNION, The members of the Ohingaiti Returned Soldiers’ Association had a reunion dinner at the hotel and a smoke concert was held in the Memorial Hall. About 40 were present, with visitors from Mangaweka. C. Smith (president of the local branch) welcomed all on behalf of the association. During the dinner tho following toasts were honoured “The King,” “Local R.5.A.,” “Absent Comrades,” “The Visitors”; “South African Veterans” and others. Musical items were rendered by G. Lindsay, G. Rihia, Penny, and others. Vocal items were given by J. McKnight, P. Brooks, J. Kereopa. A very happy and enjoyable evening was spent and the gathering disbanded during the early hours of the
