•‘Bl LLDOG DRUMMOND’S REVENGE” The thrilling film ’’Bulldog Drurfl« mond’s Revenge’’ commences its season at the Regent Theatre to-day, John Howard, in the title role, gives a powerful portrayal of the fearless Drummond, while John Barrymore, as the chief of Scotland Yard, Colonel Neilson, proves that he has lost none of his line acting ability. The story (ommence.s when Drummond, who is about to be married to Phyllis Clavering (Louise Campbell), visits Scotland Yard and learns that a foreign Government is trying to gain the secret oC the formula for a new explosive. Although Drummond has promised Phyfl's that he would solve no mors mysteries, he finds himself entangled in the plot of a gang of criminal.- *<> gain possession of the secret. The thrills reach a climax when Drummond and the member of the gang who has the explosive are on *\oard the same tram. With skill and cunning Drummond succeeds in capturin'* th' gang, and the picture is brought to a successful conclusion. Reginald Denny as Drummond’s friend, Algy Longworth, supplies much of the humour in this entertaining film. This j.roduition, which comes from the Paramount studios, was directed byLouis Kin.:;. In con rast to the grim adventure of the first film, “Thrill of a Lifetime” is a merry comedy in which there are no serious moments. The Ya-ht Club Boys, besides rendering a number of new songs, have many amusing escapades. Howdy Nelson (Leif Erikson) invites Ihe Yacht Club Boys to his camp, believing they are theatrical producers interested m the play which he has written. After many amusing incidents the play ,1 produced and proves an immediate success. Others who contribute toward the entertainment are Dor itny Lamour. Betty Grable and J.arrv Crabbe. This film is also a Paramount production and was directed by George Archinbaud.
