CARNIVAL GAIETY PARTY AT “BROOKLYNE” The home of Mrs A. K. Drew, “Brooklyne,” was the scene of a jolly party for the Central Queen on Friday evening. The guests were entertained with dancing and flag “500,” and a very happy time was spent by all. Scarlet oak, spindle tree berries, and crimson roses were very effectively used to decorate the drawing-room. Mrs Drew received her guests wearing a paisley frock and black velvet coat. Miss Jean Butler, the Central Queen, wore pink floral taffetas; and Miss Ruth Henson, the Eastern Queen, striped taffetas; Miss Francis Anderson, the Western Queen, wearing black velvet. Winners of the flag “500” were Mr and Mrs Gibbons and Mr and Mrs H. Pearce. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss F. Anderson, and Mr Keith Henson. The lucky cups at supper were won by Miss V. Butler and Miss Doris Pearce. A cruet competition was won by Mr E. N. Butler. DANCE AT “HOMEWOOD,” OHAKEA Last Saturday evening Mr and Mta B. J. Frecklington entertained a large number of young people at a dance held at their home. “Homewood.” Miss Francis Anderson, the Western Queen, was the guest of honour. Mrs Frecklington received her guests wearing a frock of navy lace, while Mrs E. Barber wore black lace with gold spray, and Miss Nance Frecklington wore scarlet georgette with gold sequins. Miss Francis Anderson wore black velvet, and Miss J. Butler, pink floral taffeta. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss J. Bradley, of Feilding, and Mr J. Bradley. After supper Mr J. Bradley thanked all present for their patronage, and Mr and Mrs Frecklington for giving the dance, and for the very enjoyable evening. Among those present were Mrs J. Vile, in black velvet; Mrs B.
