WRESTLING
BIG BOUT TO-NIGHT JENSEN-KENNEDY CLASH THRILLING DISPLAY EXPECTED The 1938 wrestling season, was sent away to a flying start in Wanganui by the bout between “Lofty” Blomfield and Leo Jensen and there will be general satisfaction among local followers of the sport that Jensen, who gave a really excellent display on that occasion, has been booked for the next here, which will be staged to-night. Jensen will be opposed by “Irish” Jack Kennedy, who has turned on some really thrilling displays at other centres and belongs to the type of matman that the New Zealand public most strongly favours. Hard-hitting and rugged, Kennedy has shown that he is fully capable of holding his own against a tough wrestler
like Blomfield and also against a fast and brilliant performer like Moen. He is a perfectly built man, and is so fast o his feet that he can use flying tackles and clropkicks with deadly precision. He was introduced to wrestling while at college and subsequently had a year’s tuition from the great Farmer Eurns before turning professional. He is an extremely versatile wrestler, having an almost endless variety of attacking and defensive holds, while his great strength further helps to make him a really formidable proposition. One of his best achievements was to beat Yvon Robert, the famous Canadian, and another of his victims was Stanley Pinto, who won the New Zea'and championship in 1931. There is no doubt that he will cause Jensen a whole heap of trouble but the stock} Canadian has only to give another display of the kind he turned on against Blomfield to be able to look fotvard to the result with confidence. Some excellent amateur preliminaries have been arranged.
