MARTON

YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB DISTRICT COMMITTEE FOR RANGITIKEI The Young Farmers’ Clubs’ movement in the Rangitikei district has made wonderful strides, and there are now five branches operating in this district, comprising Hunterville, Ohakune, Bulls, Westmere (Wanganui), and Marton. In view of the great interest that has been aroused, it has been suggested that it is now advisable to form a district committee to govern these clubs, and a meeting of delegates will be held in the Marton Jockey Club’s Rooms on Monday, May 30 (time to be arranged later). One of the main factors in the establishment of these clubs is to teach the young farmers the judging ol stock at shows in order to take the place of a number of judges who have cither retired or passed the Great Divide. The recent judging competition oi sheep and cattle by members of Young Farmers’ Clubs at the Marton District A. and P. Association created a good deal of interest and there were twenty-eight entrants for these competitions, and the result of their judging proved very difficult for the senior judges to place them in their order of merit, as they evidently knew as '• much about the points submitted as i the judges. It is hoped that the • blanches interested will give the proi posal the consideration that it dc- ! serves and make the meeting of delci gates a great success. Further pari ticulars will be notified later. .MARTON BOWLING CLUB I FORTNIGHTLY CARD EVENINGS | The committee of the Marton Bowl- ’ ing Club has decided to institute a I scries of iortnightly card evenings.'
