DEATH SENTENCE

FOR CHILD MURDERER Received May 10, 10.3 p.m. SYDNEY. May 10. Cabinet to-day decided to carry out the death sentence on Alfred Spicer for the murder of Marcia Hayes. The cate of execution will be fixed by the Executive Council to-morrow. The police dog Tess played a major part in solving the murder of a child Marcia Hayes, aged six, of the Windsor district, during December last. A large party of searchers was unable to locate the child, when Tess, after being allowed to sniff the child’s clothing at her home, set out on the trail across the paddocks and finally located the body in a bag in a creek near the Hawkesbury River. The child had been outraged ana strangled. The police later arrested Alfred Spicer, aged 65, who was found guilty of the crime.
