LOCAL BODY ELECTION
TO-DAY IS POLLING DAY STRIKE-OUT SYSTEM OF VOTING ELECTORS ASKED TO 3 OTE EARLY To-day is local body election day. Booths will open al 9 a.m. and in the city will close at 7 p.m., in the country at 6 p.m. Electors, particularly in the city and borough areas, are asked to record their votes early. When applying for ballot papers it will simplify procedure if the elector gives th., surname, Christian names, address and occupation clearly and distinctly Voting papers bear the names oi the candidates in alphabetical order. Electors must strike out the name, or names, of those for whom tney do not wish to vote. A ballot paper will be informal it more than the requited number of names is left untouched. For instance, 12 city councillors ate required, and if a paper leaves 13 names untouched it will be informal. Electors should read clearly and calmly the instructions given on each ballot paper and then proceed to vole. A good method, before striking any name out, is to go down the ballot paper and lightly tick the candidates it is intended to support, count then, and make sure that they do not exceed the number required, and then strike the rest out.
