BUSHY PARK HEREFORD SALE
Mr. G. F. Moore’s annual sale of Hereford bulls and run cattle held at Bushy Park yesterday attracted a good attendance. There were some excellent rising two-year run polled bulls offered, and these met with good competition from buyers. Mr. F. Bonner, of Mangaweka, secured two of the tops at 66 and 67 guineas respectively. These were very fine types of the polled Hereford breed. Other outstanding animals realised 36, 37, 38, 41 and 42 guineas. The entry of 21 averaged just on 29 guineas. They were widely distributed, going to Nelson, Main Trunk, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington Provinces. Other sales comprised 23 seven-year horned Hereford cows, been depasturising with polled bulls. £8; 25 similar eight-year cows. £8 3s; 33 yearling horned heifers, £4 15s; eight two-year heifers, £7 17s. The auctioneers conducting the sale in conjunction were Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd., Dalgety and Co., Ltd., New Zealand Loan Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., with Mr. C. E. Robertson wielding the hammer.
