MOTOR ACCIDENTS

THREE OCCUR YESTERDAY TWO MEN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL CAR OVERTURNS NEAR KAI IWI Early yesterday morning a collision occurred at the intersection ot Plymouth and Harrison Streets, and as a result two of the occupants of one of the motor-cars involved were removed to the Wanganui Public Hospital for treatment. The injured men were Norman McLean, who received cuts in both hands and facial abrasions, and Thomas Edward Bills, who injured a shoulder and suffered slight concussion. On inquiry last night it ’ was ascertained that both the injured ■ men were as comfortable as could be 1 expected. ' About 2.30 p.m. yesterday a car • driven by Constance Jennie Adlam, of • Waipawa, overturned afte/' passing • another car about three miles on the Wanganui side of Kai Iwi. The father of Miss Adlam, Mr. R. C. Adlam, and a son escaped uninjured, but the 1 mother, Mrs. Adlam, suffered slight concussion and was brought Into ' Wanganui by a passing motorist ant! ? received medical attention. The motor-car which swerved from the ' right-hand side of the road, to the j* left, went through a fence and over a L bank, turning over twice and coming to rest at the side of a stream. A further accident occurred at about 7 p.m., when a car driven by ' Richard Ainsley Barrett, of Tauma- ' runui, was involved in a collision wflh ’ a lorry driven by Ray Edwin North, 1 of Aberfeldy, on the Wanganuij Raetihi highway, the accident occur- ? ring at the intersection of Dublin Street and Victoria Avenue. A passenger in Barrett’s car, Miss Dorothy ’ Hitchcock, of Hutt Road, Wellington, suffered a fracture of a knee, >ut the driver was not injured.
