French And British Ministers THE TALKS IN LONDON CORDIAL EXCHANGES
[ British Official Wir«l«». ] Received April 29, 5.5 p.m. RUGBY, April 28. A communique issued this evening states: —
“The French Ministers, MM. Daladier and Bonnet, who were accompanied by M. Corbin, the French Ambassador, met the Prime Minister, Mr Chamberlain, and the Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, at 10 Downing Street. A full agreement was reached on all points discussed and the meeting will be resumed to-mor-row.”
It is understood that among the subjects discussed by the statesmen of the two countries was the AngloItalian agreement, on the conclusion of which the French Ministers congratulated Mr Chamberlain and Lore. Halifax, besides giving some account of the prospects of the Franco-Italian conversations.
The procedure at the forthcoming meeting of the League Council, at which clarification of the situation arising out of the Italian conquest of Ethiopia will be considered on the initiative of Britain, was another matter on which views were exchanged. Preliminary discussion of the situation in Spain took place and will be resumed to-morrow.
This evening the French Ministers were the guests of the King and ueen at Winsor Castle. Lord Halifax was also at Windsor. The French Prime Minister, M. Daladier, told newaspapermen before proceding to Windsor that to-day’s conversations had been most cordial and that full accord had been reached on all important points. 1
