FRANCO’S CLAIM Last Round Being Fought LOYALISTS ACCUSED MURDER OF 400,000 PERSONS By Telegraph—Pres. Association—Conrriahtl BURGOS, April 19. In a broadcast speech, the insurgent leader, General Franco, declared: “We have won the war, and our forces are now lighting the last rounds in the reconquest of Spain.” After extolling the achievements of his regime, he accused the loyalists of murdering over 400,000 persons and declared that they would be called to account for their deeds. He reiterated his programme of plentiful and well-paid work for all, reformation of the Press, and the attraction of tourists to Spain. NON-INTERVENTION FINANCING OF OBSERVATION SCHEME. [ British Official Wireless.] RUGBY, April 19. A meeting of the chairman's subcommittee of the Non-Intervention Committee has been called for Monday. It is understood that the principal business will be the financial position of the Non-Intervention Board, which is charged with the administration of the observation screme. AMERICAN ’PLANES SMUGGLING TO SPAIN CHARGE AGAINST MEXICAN CITIZEN. Received April 20, 11.30 p.m. LOS ANGELES, April 19. An alleged plot to smuggle United States-built 'planes into Spain for the Government with the connivance of the Spanish Ambassador to Mexico, was disclosed in a Federal Grand Jury indictment charging Fritz Bieler, a Mexican citizen, with violation of the Neutrality Act. At least four 'planes were bought in California and flown to Mexico, where they were shipped to Spain rom Vera Cruz. It was stated that the Ambassador, Senor Ordas, paid the storage on one 'plane in Mexico City. INSURGENTS’ CLAIM GRIP ON MEDITERRANEAN COAST WIDENED, Received April 20, 11.35 p.m. SALAMANCA, April 20. Following up General Franco’s viclory broadcast, the insurgents claim . that they have widened their grip on the Mediterranean coast to 30 miles' ' and have captured 2500 prisoners west | of Tortosa, including complete units, also valuable war materials. The forces occupying San Carlos and Del La Rapita found the best buildings and fishing smacks destroyed.
