“CHRONICLE” NEEDLECRAFT SERVICE
CROSS STITCH PEKINESE The Pekinese—aristocrat of dogs—makes an admirable subject, for a bit of “needle-painting,” whether it’s pillow or picture he is to adorn. You or the one who cross stitches this dignified little fellow in easy six to the inch crosses, will know the thrill of portrait painting, using wool or floss in “natural” colouring. Make his eyes “snappy” with dark floss! Pattern 1363 contains a transfer pattern of a dog 12 x 13 inches; illustrations of all stitches used; colour chart and key, and particulars of materials required.
WEDDING DAVIS—HUNTER A quiet, but pretty Scotch wedding was celebrated at St. David's Presbyterian Church, Taihape, on Easter Monday, when Olive, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs H. W. Hunter, of Taihape, was married to Harold, eldest son of Mr and Mrs R. G. Davis, 01 Papanui. Rev. E. T. King was the officiating clergyman. The church was tastefully decorated for the occasion and provided a picturesque setting for the ceremony. A white and gold bell, made by Miss Doris Davis, sister of the bridegroom, was suspended above the happy couple. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked a picture of grace and charm in a navy blue costume with hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of white and gold chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid, Miss Betty Hunter of Wellington, sister of the bride, was attractively robed in a dark green frock with hat to match. Her bouquet consisted of autumn flowers. Mr Arthur Davis, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the Gretna Hotel, where the tables were artistically decorated with autumn t’nts and chrysanthemums. The usual toasts were honoured and Scotch songs were sung. Mrs H. W. Hunter, mother of the bride, wore a smart navy costume with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of red flowers. Mrs R. G. Davis was attired in a handsome black costume with green hat, and carried a posy of autumn flowers. After the reception the newlyweds left, by car on a tour of the North Island. Their future home will be at Hastings.
