SYDNEY VISIT
NEW ZEALAND RETURNED SOLDIERS
[ Per Press Association. J WELLINGTON, April 15. Arrangements are practically completed by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association for embarkation on Tuesday aboard the Maunganui and Monowai lying at Aotea Quay, Wellington, of 1307 returned soldiers who intend to visit Sydney lor tiie Anzac Day observance in Australia's sesquicentennial year. Augmented by other New Zealand veterans they will rejoin their former Australian comrades in arms in diversions lasting from next Saturday until the following Thursday, when they will board the steamers for the return.
Most important o£ all they will March at the head of 50,000 exservicemen who are to parade through Sydney streets past the cenotaph in Marlin Place to Sydney Domainfor a great open-air service. The contingent will include men from all parts of New Zealand, the ! district R.S.A.’s having been given] quotas which they filled easily. At first the Maunganui was obtained for the voyage and then the Monowai was filled as well. Many more berths than usual have been arranged in the ships. Nevertheless, about 70 men have their names on the waiting list in case there would be a cancellation. There will be about 625 men on the Monowai and 682 in the Maunganui, and it is known that 75 left Auckland in the Awatea this week, including
Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., president of the N.Z.R.S.A., and Mr B. J. Jacobs, vice-president, and-, there were others in the Wanganella, which sailed from [Wellington on Thursday. I The Maunganui and Monowai will |sail at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Before the 'men leave they will be officially farewelled in the grounds of Parliament Buildings.
