Most Like Perry. No. 10 in the ranking list of British lawn tennis, R. A. Shayes is the most “Perry-like” of all British lawn tennis players, says a London writer. Inclusion in the ranking list has been a tonic for Shayes. Against a strong field at Torquay he defeated H. G. N. Lee, ranking No. 4, and the Czechoslovakian champion, J. Siba. Shayes was one of the only four British players to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon. He has learned to concentrate at last, and the rest of his powerful game must bri->g him to the front in 1938.
