ITALIANS IN SPAIN
QUESTION IN COMMONS.
Received April 15, 9.5 p.m. LONDON, April 15.
Replying to a question in the House of Commons, Mr. Chamberlain said he hoped the Anglo-Italian agreement would be signed on Aril 16. Mr. HoreBelisha was paying a courtesy visit to the head of the Italian Government but no politcal significance was attached to it whatsoever. The Duchess of Atholl asked if Mr. Chamberlain was aware that there were four Italian divisions in the front line of the advancing insurgents and whether the Prime Minister was prepared to continue negotiations with Italy in view of his statement on March 25 that he expected Italy to wtlhdraw her troops. The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. R. A. Butler, replied that he was aware that Italians were participating in the present offensive but the Prime Minister never expected that Italy would effect a unilateral withdrawal. He was satisfied that Signor Mussolini had implemented the acceptance of the British formula for the evacuation of troops.
