JUNIOR FARMERS
AT SYDNEY SHOW NEW ZEALAND INTEREST Received April 15, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, April 15. Competitions at the Sydney Royal Show for junior farmers, embracing five from New Zealand, comprised largely judging livestock and cereals. lan Gilmour, one of four British boys, was conspicuously successful. He was placed in three classes in which there was strong inter-Dominion rivalry. The runner-up to lan in judging a Jersey cow was A. Fisher, of the Carterton Club New Zealand. A. Cowan, of the Apiti Young Farmers’ Cluo, New Zealand, was third in judging a Berkshire pig. Sir Samuel Hordern, president of the society, welcomed the boys and emphasised the value of reciprocal visits.
The New Zealand Federation ot Young Farmers’ Clubs has requested a visit by Australian junior farmers to the New Zealand Centenary celebrations in 1940 and every effort 's being made to accept the invitation. Among the visitors to the riiow is a party of New Zealand touring farmers headed by Mr. D. S. Max, of Nelson, who, with his colleagues, was greatly impressed by the magnitude and educational value of the whole exhibition.
