Mr A. R. Donaldson has been elect ed president of the Wanganui Chil dren’s Gardening Circle.

Mr C. G. Herdman, of Auckland, a past chairman of the Auckland Rowing Association, is a visitor to Wanganui for the rowing championships.

Mr A. C. Nordon, of Auckland, president of the West End Rowing Club, arrived in Wanganui yesterday to attend the championship regatta.

Mr. J. Siddells, at Wednesday's meeting of the Wanganui Harbour Board, commented on the good services rendered by the chairman, Mr. W. J. Rogers, in the last term.

Dr. P. Marshall, a late headmaster of the Collegiate School, is staying with Mr and Mrs F. W. Gilligan during the school Easter celebrations. Dr. Marshall is a resident of Lower Hutt, Wellington.

Mr W. R. B. Nicholson, leaves by the Awatea on Tuesday next to connect with the Orford at Sydney, and intends visiting England and the Continent, returning via Canada.

At the Harbour Board meeting a resolution was passed placing on record the services rendered by Mr. J. Morrison, who is retiring at the end of the present term. Mr. Morrison in thanking the board, said that his associations with that body had been the happiest.

Mr W. D. Carson, Brunswick, has been appointed Wanganui district representative on the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s executive. Mr Carson has also been appointed judge of the root crops at the Waikato show in June.

Mr J. C. Aitken, of Auckland, is a visitor to Wanganui for the championship regatta. For several years Mr Aitken was secretary and treasurer of the Union Boat Club and the Wanganui Rowing Association, and since removing to Auckland he has rendered valuable service in rowing affairs in the northern city.

Mrs H. P. Monkhouse, 8.A., has been appointed senior mistress on the staff of the Wanganui Technical College in the place of Miss J. Hume, who is leaving. Mrs Monkhouse is at present on the staff of the Wanganui Girls’ College, and previously taught at the Napier Girls' High School and Takapuna Grammar School. It is anticipated that Mrs Monkhouse will take up her new duties in the coming term.
