TAUHERENIRAU COURSE
WAIRARAPA MEETING
BRIEF REVIEW OF CARD
The Wairarapa Racing Club's Easter meeting has attracted large fields throughout to-day’s programme, save in the open sprint, and there should be some excellent racing at the picturesque Tauherenikau course. The totalisator will be operated on the single-pool system. Principal interest will be centred on the Easter Handicap, for which there is engaged one of the best fields seen for many years in such provincial events. Tiger Gain and Lucullus Lad are both Wairarapa Cup winners, and Masfer Cyklon, Korero, Ned Cuttie, Sergia, Boomerang, Helen Ford, Mishna and Good Sun are all good recent winners. Even Silver River and Mister Quex cannot be overlooked in summing up, but backers will probably prefer those nearer the head of the handicap. The remaining events all have their problems, including that of the Mokai Handicap (six furlongs) and the Martinborough Handicap (one mile). The following may be well supported:— Maiden Plate.—Gay Hunting, Qucxona, Pirinoa.
Mokai Handicap.—Majority, Alunga. Easter Handicap.—Lucullus Lad, Ned Cuttie, Tiger Gain. Wairarapa Nursery. Rakahanga, Twenty Grand, Rarotonga.
Tuhitarata Hack.—Nereus, Galtee more. Lord Quick. Newmarket Hack.—Sigurd, Trebor Mea Mea.
