KAETIHI CATTLE FAIR. A SUCCESSFUL SALE. Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual autumn cattle fair at Raetihi on Tuesday list when they offered to a very large attendance just on 2000 head, of cattle. There were buyers present from Ilawera, Nukumaru, Feilding and all adjacent districts. A large consignment of young cattle was purchased for the Bay of Plenty district. Owing to the continued long spell of dry weather it was expected that the sale might be somewhat sticky but we are pleased to report that this was not the case. In fact all kinds sold readily under keen competition and prices realised were in some cases above vendors’ expectations. Meaty bullocks and 20 months cattle, especially heifers, came in for good demand and altogether we report a very good sale, very few lines being turned out unsold. The cattle on the whole came forward in good order reflecting the good summer experienced in the Waimarino district. We intend holding a supplementary fair on Thursday, 28th. instant, when we will again be yarding some good straight lines of cattle.
