FURTHER CONTRACTS LET [ Per Preaa Asaoclatlon J WELLINGTON, April 13. An announcement that Cabinet had approved the acceptance of contracts for the erection of 160 further houses under the Department of Housing Construction in various parts of the Dominion was made to-day by the Hon. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Undersecretary of Housing. Details are:— Wellington and Lower Hutt.— Lindsay and Maidment have secured a contract for the erection of six houses, two of which will be semidetached. Fletcher Construction Co. eight houses. H. L. Christie three houses. Palmerston North.—3o houses, six of which will be semi-detached, H. E. Townshend, Ltd.

Johnsonville. —A co-operative tender from Alexander and Lawton for the erection of a single unit was accepted.

Auckland, One Tree Hi 11.—93 houses at the Harp of Erin Estate, Fletcher Construction Co., Ltd Auckland, Point Chevalier.—W. G. Archer, three single-house units and one two-hcuse unit on the Sunshine block.

Auckland, Devonport.—lo houses, two of which are to be semi-detached, F. J. Fawcett. Auckland, Mt. Roskill.—Young and Wilson, contract for roading, etc., in departments of the block. Mosgiel—J. White, five houses comprising three single-house and one two-house units.

Mr. Lee announced that land had been purchased in the following towns. —Wellington (Khandallah), additional six lots; Cashmere Estate, Onslow Road. Wellington (Lower Hutt), an area in Malone Road sufficient for seven house units, also four sections in Leighton Avenue, 23 Avon Street, 7 Riverside Drive, and IS Thornycroft Avenue. Nelson, property in Tipahi, Tukuka and Kawai Streets and Waimea Road. This will accommodate 20 house units. Auckland (Avondale), nine sections on Great North Road, Avondale, have been purchased from the Presbyterian Church. Auckland (Remuera), approximately two and a-half acres in Orakei and Benson Roads and a further eight sections in Remuera. Auckland (Orakei), further 10 sections. Otahuhu, area to accommodate 23 house units at Walmsley Road, Hans and McGee Streets. Auckland (Point Chevalier), eight sections in Seymour and Miller Streets, 13 sections in Kiwi and Walmer Streets and a single section adjacent to Dignan Estate. Auckland (St. Helier’s Bay), area to accommodate 19 house units, situated in Long Drive. Kaikohe, approximately three roads 34 perches, Raihara Street. Opotiki, are? to accommodate six house units. Kawakawa, area to accommodate five house units.
