HEAVY CASUALTIES
FLEEING JAPANESE ATTACKED FROM THE AIR CANTON BOMBED (By Telegraph Trnse Association—Copyright! HANKOW, April 10. Supporting their encircling armies, Chinese war 'planes inflicted heavy casualties on Japanese troops crowding into Yihsien. The Japanese are erecting strong defences north-west of the town.
Canton reports a casualty list of 150 killed and 120 injured, for which four Japanese bombing 'planes were responsible. A sewing factory was hit. The death roll will probably exceed a hundred. Red Cross workers with their bare hands tore debris from the factory. Some of the bodies were incinerated.
TWO HUNDRED BODIES MANY STILL MISSING Received April 11, 5.5 p.m. CANTON, April 10. Two hundred bodies have been recovered; 100 people are missing, and 400 have been sent to hospital. The sewing factory contained 1000 workers.
