WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, April 11, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is now centred east of the North Island. Pressure is relatively low over south-eastern Australia and the first of a series of shallow westerly depressions is commencing to cross the South Island. Forecast. —Winds: Variable with north-east to north-west predominating, light to moderate mainly but strong at times in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, rather rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong north-easterly winds and rather rough seas in the northern portion, moderate north to west winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. Weather: For the most part fair to fine and mild, but some scattered light rains probable in the extreme north and later scattered rains developing in western and southern districts of the South Island. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 • hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 4 hours 40 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Temperatures: Maximum, 74deg. Fahr.; minimum, 48deg. Fahr. Time of sunset to-day, 5.57 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 6.48 a.m. Phases of the Moon for April.—New Moon, April 1; First Quarter April 8; Full Moon, April 15; Last Quarter, April 23; New Moon, April 30.
