THE GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSALS
DETAILS EXPECTED MONDAY
[ per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 1
Full details of the Government’s plans for national superannuation and health services are being prepared for presentation to the special Parliamentary Committee set up to investigate the whole question, and these will be placed before the committee almost immediately after it meets on Tuesday next. It is understood that a definite announcement of the proposals of the Government will be made by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) to-night. What the Prime Minister will make public before the committee meets is a brief precis of the major essentials of the Government’s proposals, and to this end the special sub-committee of experts has drafted a suitable outline.
The first business of the committee, which will meet at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, will be to elect its chairman. The personnel of the committee is:—Mr Savage, the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W.
