AMERICAN TORNADOES

27 KILLED AND 300 INJURED WHOLE VILLAGES WIPED OUT KANSAS CITY, March 31. The deaths as a result of the tornado now total 27, while 300 were injured. Ail but two buildings at South Pekin, in Illinois, were levelled. National Guardsmen were rushed to the city to assist those injured and prevent looting. The path of the storm stretched 600 miles. Whole villages were destroyed and buildings piled up. Several schools eoilupsea but in most instances the pupils miraculously escaped. The storm, which was accompanied by ram and hail, cut off the electricity and many operations were performed by physicians with the aid of electric torches. The storm lashed Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Central Illinois.
