BIGGER ENTRIES RECEIVED PRICES REACH LOWER LEVEL 1 Per Press Association. ) INVERCARGILL, April 1. Entries about 80 per cent, biggei than last year, and a record for the fair flooded the market at the annual ram and ewe fair conducted by the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association at Invercargill Showgrounds to-day. Because of the very heavy entries only a portion of the sale was held to-day, and the fair will be continued to-morrow. Compared with last year’s fair the prices were on a substantially lower level. Double figures were reached only in rare casese to-day, whereas several breeders last year were able to sell practically their whole entry at from 11 guineas to 15 guineas. The average to-day would be about 6 guineas for sheep .sold. In the Romney Marsh stud ram sale the top price pa'd was 41 guineas fol a one-shear ram of outstanding quality offered by Mr Allan Gall. Tuturau. The purchaser was Mr L J. 11. Mulholland, of Dipto'n. Other good sales in this section were made by Mr W. A. Roxburgh, Ryal Bush and Mr Alan Grant, Waimate. Stud Southdown rams attracted fairly ken competition, but the highest price was much in excess of the average and even of the next prices. Mr 11. .1. Andrew, Maheno, secure*, the lop price of 51 guineas with a very attractive shearling ram bred from an imported ram. The ram was bought by Mr T. A. Hazlett, Otapiri. The Southland Frozen Moat Company secured 34 guineas for a ram sold lo Mr J. Swale, Limehills. In the Romney Marsh Hock ram sale the top price was secured by Mi P. Adamson, Tussock Creek, for a pen 01. three sheading tar.h. which brought 1 ■!• guineas, the purchaser being Mr A. Barrett, Gummie’s Bush,
