GREAT WAR MISTAKES
WARNING BY CANADIAN BRIGADIER-GENERAL. OTTAWA, March 30. A warning against a repetition of the Great War mobilisation mistakes was given by Senator BrigadierGeneral Wagriesbach, who urged the Senate to approve of some form of conscription preparedness. It was not good enough, he said, to leave the raising of battalions to prominent patriotic leaders, which was precisely the method in Queen Anne days. Onethird of the Great War casualties were due to lack of training and the enlistment of men not physically fit. This was eventually eliminated in England.
