MAGISTRATE’S COURT The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court of Raetihi was held on (Tuesday last, Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., I presiding. I Civil Cases Judgment was given in the following undefended civil cases:—W. J. Feltham v. James Anderson, claim 15 8s 6d, Court, costs 17s, sol. fee 15s 6a. W. J. Feltham v. W. H. Harrison, claim £5 ss, 17s, 15s 6d. Fred Coury v. George Peretini, claim £4 9s 6d, 15s, 15s 6d. Fred Coury v. K. Wrigh'., [claim £4 12s Bd, Ils, 15s 6d; W. J. | Feltham v. J. Hamilton, claim £ll 7s j6d, £1 3s, £1 Ils. W. J. Feltham v. ■T. Gray, claim £3 6s, 13s, 15s 6d. Hariris Tansey and Ritchie v. T. J. Leslie, [claim £3 13s 6d, 10s, 15s 6d. Illicit Liquor Sales. I Robin Pearson was charged that on March 22 he did give an order to the Cascade Brewery at Taihape for six dozen of draught beer intending to take the said beer to Raetihi within lhe upper Wanganui proclaimed by the Governor in Council under the provisions of lhe Licensing Act and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the year 1877, at page 436, and did not notify the Cascade Brewery from whom the liquor was purchased that it was to be taken into such area. He was further charged that he did sell liquor, to wit. beer, contrary to provisions of the Licensing Act, i9OB. The third charge was that he did keep liquor, Io wit, beer, for sale contrary to the provisions of the Licensing Act, 1908. Defendant, who was not represented by counsel, pleaded guilty to all three charges. On the charge of selling he was fined £4O and Court costs 10s. On the charge of failing to notify he was fined £lO and Court costs 10s. On the charge of keeping beer for sale in a proclaimed area ho was convicted with costs 10s. He was ordered to pay £3O forthwith and the balance within two calendar months. SCHOOL SPORTS On Wednesday afternoon teams from the Raetihi School journeyed to Ohakune to play the primary department there at cricket and base-ball rounders. The games resulted in a win for Ohakune in the cricket match and a win for Raetihi at baseball rounders.

At cricket Ohakune batted first and. with the assistance of some big hitters, ran up a score of 43 runs. The chief run-getter was Sheerin with a total of 13 runs. For Raetihi the wickets were shared between Willie Haitana (7) and Bill Rule (3). For Ohakune the following secured wickets: Gartner four and McKenzie four. In the baseball rounders Ohakune at their first turn with the bat scored 28 points, rounders being scored by Norma Medak and June Bennett. At their second strike the same side secured a further 40 points and two rounders were scored by June Bennett. Ohakune: Total points 6S. Raetihi in their first innings scored 58, Heather Wright scoring two rounders and a six. Kathleen Hapuka also obtained two rounders. Total 58 points. In their secon dinnings Raetihi scored 31 points. The rounder-getters were Kathleen Hapuka (2) and Barbara Windle (2). Raetihi: Total 89 points.
