WAVERLEY BRANCH ANNEAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Waverley branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held on Tuesday, March 29. The election of officers resulted as follow:—Chairman, Mr A. L. Elms Lie; vice-chairmen, Messrs J. M. Hartwell, J. Metcalfe; hon. secretary, Mr C. Wallace; delegate provincial executive, D. Stewart; delegate interprovincial conference, Mr T. J. Davis; committee, Messrs Alex. Eims•liie, R. H. Oliver, D. G. Hammond, R. S. Aiken, D. Stewart, G. McGregor, Harold Stewart, T. J. Davis, A. Blake, C. Johnston.
After a brief discussion on the question of noxious weeds, it was decided that a special meeting ol the branch would be held with a special speaker after the noxious weed sub-committee had published its findings. In view of the fact, that the Dominion president would probably be in Wanganui in May, it was decided to ask him to speak at Waverley on his way to Taranaki. It was decided to ask Point Blank to publish the wsole of the Wanganui provincial meeting each month. It was suggested that a regular monthly meeting might be held in the first week in each month to hear a report of the provincial executive Several other suggestions were made during the course of the evening to create further interest in the branch during the coming year. Mr T. Currie, the provincial president, then addressed the meeting on the organisation of the Farmers' Union and the necessity for unity among farmers at the present time and the general trend of economic events.
