CRISIS ENDED
SITUATION IN EUROPE CALMER ATMOSPHERE RESTRAINT COMMENDED LONDON, March 20. Responsible Sunday newspapers regard the crisis as over and consider it certain that there will be no new British commitment in Central Europe. The Observer says: “The progress of the Anglo-Italian talks and the Lithuanian decision combined to produce a much calmer atmosphere in the general European situation. Last night there were no longer fears of a British Cabinet split. Even former critics appreciate the wisdom of Mr. Chamberlain’s restraint.” LABOUR LEADER’S ATTACK LONDON, March 20. Mr. Morrison, chairman of the Labour Party’s national campaign, declared that Mr. Chamberlain must perceive that the country and a growing number of members of Parliament weret against him. The hon,Durable course was for him to resign in favour of a Premier more fully corresponding with the nation’s outlook. British people did not desire a continuance of the nightmare, but wanted to organise for peace.
