Mr. W. Meikle, of Wanganui, left for Wellington during the week-end for several days’ holiday.
Mr. J. B. Cotterill. M.P.. was reelected president at the annual meeting of the Pirates Rugby Football Club last evening.

Mr. T. W. Lonsdale, who recently retired from the position ol fields instructor at the Department of Agriculture in Wanganui, was the speaker at yesterday’s luncheon on the Wanganui Rotary Club.
Messrs. A. P. Me.ville, E. B. Gordon (Marton), National Party candidate for the Rangitikei electorate, and Mr. A. Dingwall, fields instructor for the Department of Agriculture at Wanganui, were guests at yesterday's luncheon of ;he Wanganui Rotary Club.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Percy Dustin was passed at last night's meeting of the Pirates Rugby Football Club when it was decided to place on record appreciation of his services. Mr. Dustin for many years was closely associated with the club and took a particular interest in the lower grades.
Appreciation of the work done by Mr. A. S. Burgess, of Wanganui, as president of the club was expressed at the annual meeting of the Western Federated (N. 1. Flying Club on Saturday evening. Mr. H. Lightband said that the New Plymouth Aero Club had every confidence in Mr. Burgess as president and wished to thank him for his past services.
Mr. George Spriggens was reelected patron at the annual meeting of the Pirates Rugby Fotoball Club last evening. Mr. Spriggens was the club’s first president and since relinqishing this office has been patron of the club. He has been the only member to hold the office of patron, having accepted it when it was first established.
Mr. J. Patterson, deputy chairman of the Wanganui Harbour Board, is to sail on the Awatea on April 4 on a business trip to Australia. He was wished well on his mission by members of the Wanganui Harbour Board yesterday, the chairman (Mr. W. J. Rogers) and Mr. Donald Ross expressing the board’s appreciation of Mr. Patterson’s work as a member. Mr. Patterson, replying, said that he had served on the board for 11 years and did not intend to seek re-election. He hoped to make his trip to Australia such that the board and Wanganui generally would benefit.
