U.S. NAVAL BILL

AMENDMENTS DEFEATED WASHINGTON, March 18. The House of Representatives defeated two amendments to the Naval Bill, one providing for an arms limitation conference among those nations which signed the 1922 Washington Agreement, and the other striking out three super-dreadnoughts. The House struck from the Bill the declaration of policy, a feature whereof was that the fleet must be powerful enough to defend both coasts of the United States simultaneously.
