PIG EXHIBITS
THREE IMPORTANT TROPHIES WANGANUI A. AND P. ASSOCIATION The secretary of the Wanganui A. and P. Association has received advice that in future the Wanganui/ Show will be included in the competitions held annually for the undermentioned valuable trophies: 1. —The Cheltenham Dairy Company’s Silvei Challenge Cup for most, points in urebred Bcrkshires and Tamworths.—To be won three times in succession. To qualify each competitor must compete at any three of the following shows: Manawatu, Carterton, Wanganui, Levin, Feilding, I Dannevirke, Marton. Points to bo I allocated at any three of the above ; .hows on the following basis: First 3, I second 2, third 1, champion 1 point I extra. Pigs to be registered purej breds through New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association. All pigs must be bred and owned by exhibitor. .Judges to be appointed from the Hew Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association’s official list and shall not be eligible 'to act at any of the other shows mentioned in the same season. 2. —Tamworth Trophy (tea and cof- , fee pot). - The Manavvatu-Oroua 1 branch of the N< ,v Zealand Pig \ Breeders’ Association offers for competition the above trophy for the ' most points in the Tamworth section . as under; trophy to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. ( To qualify each competitor must com- z pete at any three of the following shows: Manawatu, Carterton, Wan- . ganui, Levin, Feilding, Dannevirke, j Marton. Points to be allocated at any three of the above shows on the fol- j lowing basis: First 3, second 2, third j 1, champions 1 point extra. Pigs to be registered purebreds through the = N.Z. Keiller, Esq., through the Manawatu-Oroua branch r of the N.Z. Pig-breeders’ Association, donates a sterling diver cigarette case j valued at. £l2 12s. The trophy is to be won three times and to qualify t each competitor must compete at any three of the following shows: Mana- ? watu, Carterton, Wanganui, Levin, Feilding, Dannevirke, Marton. The j rules and conditions are similar to the other two competitions mentioned j above. j The inclusion of these competitions ] in the Wanganui schedule are a de- ? cided fillip to the pig section of the ( local show and will no doubt increase j the entries in this important section. It will be remembered that th< execu- ] tive committee of the A. and P. As- | sociation last year incurred heavy ex- . pense in equipment for the pig sec- j tion, and 150 covered pens have been < provided. The N.Z. Pig-breeders’ As- j sociation have evidently appreciated ( the efforts of the local A. and P. As- ’ sociation and the inclusion of the foregoing competitions has justified the j outlay of a considerable sum of money j for the pig section. Breeders in the ( district served by the Wanganui A. ’ and p . Association will now have an < opportunity- of exhibition at Wanga- j nui, where previously they have had | to take their exhibits further afield. >
