Mr. Broadbent, who was last seen over Endeh Island, about 400 miles from Koepang, before dawn yesterday. It was believed possible that he might have landed on some isolated spot on the Western Australian coast. Dutch Air Force 'planes had begun a search. AIRMAN UNINJURED THE ’PLANE DAMAGED Received March 18, 11.15 p.m. SYDNEY, March 18. Advice has been received that Broadbent is uninjured on Torren Island, but the 'plane is damaged, the chief damage appearing to be a bent airscrew. A Dutch official and a few natives are with him on the island. His machine is on rising ground about 600 yards from the shore. CLOUSTON’S PROGRESS SINGAPORE PASSED EN ROUTE TO DARWIN CALL MADE AT PENANG SINGAPORE, March 18. Flying-Officer A. E. Clouston, the New Zealand aviator, who is flying from Gravesend to New Zealand, accompanied by Mr. Victor Ricketts, arrived at 7.54 p.m., March 17, G.M.T. (7.54 a.m., March 18, New Zealand time). He left for Darwin at 8.48 p.m., G.M.T. Flying-Officer Clouston landed at Allahabad from Basra at 3.20 a.m. G.M.T., and left again at 4.56 a.m. He travelled at 218 miles an hour between Karachi and Allahabad. It Is believed that he flew over Dumdum (Bengal) on his way to Singapore. Flying-Officer Clouston landed at Penang at 3.5 p.m. He. experienced bad weather in the bay and feared that he was getting short of petrol. He left Singapore at 5.45 p.m. G.M.T. AIRMAN AT DARWIN NOT COMING TO NEW ZEALAND EXPECTED AT SYDNEY TO-DAY Received March 18, 11.5 p.m. SYDNEY, March 18. Advice has been received that Clouston arrived at Darwin at 5.55 p.m. and is expected at Sydney to-morrow. The Daily Telegraph says that Clouston has changed his plans and is not going to New Zealand owing to the necessity of returning to England earlier than was originally planned. He is attempting a flight to Sydney and hick to England within seven days.
